Introduction to Niji no Matsubara

The vast pine grove that stretches along the coast of Karatsu Bay in Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, forming a gentle arc over a length of approximately 4.5 kilometers and a width of 400 to 700 meters, is known as “Niji no Matsubara.”
Among the three great pine groves of Japan, “Niji no Matsubara” stands out with its staggering size of about 216 hectares, in contrast to the “Miho no Matsubara” in Shizuoka, which covers about 34 hectares, and the “Kehi no Matsubara” in Fukui, which spans about 32 hectares.
