Introduction to Kumamoto City Zoological and Botanical Gardens
The Kumamoto City Zoological and Botanical Gardens are located near the city center, by the shores of the oasis for the citizens, Lake Ezu.
Covering a total area of 24.5 hectares, the park is home to about 120 species and 600 animals, as well as approximately 800 species and 50,000 plants, soothing the hearts of its visitors.

Upon entering the main entrance of the zoo, you are first greeted by the friendly monkeys. As you venture further, you will encounter many animals popular with children, such as tigers, elephants, and giraffes.

(Except for legally certified “guide dogs,” “hearing dogs,” and “assistance dogs”) ●Do not feed the animals. ●Do not tap on the glass of enclosures containing animals. ●Do not collect insects or plants, or break branches within the park. ●Bringing toys like balls, frisbees, badminton, jump ropes, roller skates, or skateboards, or riding bicycles is not allowed in the park. ●Please be considerate of others when using the lawn and other areas. ●Please cooperate in keeping the park clean by disposing of trash properly. ●The entire premises have been designated as non-smoking since April 1, 2021 (Reiwa 3). |
